Bio Mate goes to SUPFest to CHECK CLEAN DRY
For our first big outing since the announcement of our partnership Paddle UK, we were delighted to go along to SUPFest and wow what a weekend we had.
Stationed at the Biosecurity checkpoint along with APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency) and the Eden Rivers Trust meant we got to meet everyone paddling. All boards needed to be checked and tagged before going in the beautiful River Eden, a necessary task to help prevent the spread of Invasive Non Native Species and also to chat to people about #checkcleandry. Any boards that needed it were quickly cleaned with the demo kits we had available and were then good to go. The rain, fast flowing river delayed the start of the paddling but that did not dampen spirits as there was so much to see and do, not least some brilliant talks by Jo Mosely and her new book, Stand Up Paddleboarding in the Lakes, and by Brendan Prince about his adventures. It wasn't long before the sun shone, SUP's were paddled and everyone got onto the water.
Huge thanks to John from Lake District Paddleboarding for having us along and Steve the farmer for working tirelessly keeping the whole site running.
Great weekend, loads of new friends made and cannot wait to be back next year.
